Surprise.. Some Players Evaded And Refused To Join The Ranks Of The Second Egyptian National Team

Ahmed Hassan’s statements came after Egypt’s second national football team, led by coach Helmy Toulan, tied with its Algerian counterpart without goals today, Monday, in the second friendly match that brought together the two teams at Cairo Stadium.

The two teams are preparing to participate in the Arab Football Cup competitions, which will be held in Qatar during the period between December 1 and 18, 2025.

The Egyptian national team defeated its Algerian counterpart (3-2) in the first friendly match that brought them together last Friday.

Ahmed Hassan said in statements to reporters after the match: “There are some players who evaded us and refused to be with us.”

Hassan’s statements came when he was asked about the absence of Ahmed Hegazy, a player for the Saudi NEOM club, despite his not being on the first team roster led by Hossam Hassan.

The Egyptian national team director explained that Ahmed Hegazy refused to join the Egyptian national team (B) and said: “He refused to be with us while he is free.”

He continued: There are other players who refused to join us, and I will reveal their names after the tournament ends.”

Ahmed Hassan stressed: “We will not force anyone to play with us against their will.”

He revealed: “We have a group of male players, such as Akram Tawfiq, Mohamed Elneny, and Amr El-Soulia. They are leaders in the truest sense of the word.”

He continued: “We promise strong competition in the Arab Cup, despite the difficulties this team faced.”

Ahmed Hassan concluded his statements by explaining: “We asked to postpone matches and it did not happen. We face several difficulties, but we promise to compete in the tournament.”
