The 29-year-old player has participated in 97 matches with Barcelona since joining in 2022, and has also participated in 79 international matches with Denmark.

This injury is likely to prevent Christensen from participating with the Danish national team in the European qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup, where the team will face its counterpart, North Macedonia, on March 26.

The final European playoff match will be held five days later between the winner of the Denmark-North Macedonia match and the winner of the Czech-Ireland match, and the winner qualifies for the 2026 World Cup to play in Group A.
