Bethenny Frankel Accused Of Victim Blaming After Weighing In On Rob And Michele Reiners Deaths Too Soon

Bethenny Frankel has hit back after she was accused of victim blaming as she delivered her cutting take on Rob Reiner’s death.

Acclaimed filmmaker Reiner, 78, and wife Michele, 70, were found stabbed to death inside their Los Angeles mansion on December 14.

The couple’s son Nick Reiner, 32, is accused of their murders and will make his first court appearance this morning.

On Monday, Real Housewives of New York alum Frankel, 55, encouraged her followers to ‘err on the side of caution’ and to act on intuition.

Speaking in a video uploaded to her social media, Frankel said: ‘So, the Rob Reiner tragedy has reminded me of something that I already know to be true which is that if you feel alarmed by something and something makes you feel uncomfortable and you think of the unfathomable…

‘If you see something, you say something, or you avoid something, or you protect yourself.’

Frankel suggested the feeling of danger could be sparked by a break up or a child acting out.

Concluding her video, Frankel said: ‘I’ve had situations where I have felt in threat of danger and I have acted accordingly and maybe something never would have happened because most things don’t happen, but some things do happen.

‘Mental illness, addiction, temporary insanity, and rage and jealousy and all of these things that we see are cautionary tales because it could happen to you.’

While many viewers applauded Frankel for speaking out, one accused her of victim blaming.

They wrote: ‘Careful, this sounds like victim blaming. Too soon B, too soon.’

Frankel clapped back at the accusation and said: ‘You literally are on the wrong street.’

Others criticized her for the timing of her video.

‘Not the time to be saying this, God forbid you could wait a week to get clicks and likes,’ one said.

‘Hmm? No sympathy for the Reiners horrific murder? Just talking about yourself,’ wrote another.

A third said: ‘Of course it’s all about you.’

However, many of Frankel’s followers left comments imploring others to listen to their gut instinct.

‘It’s called the gift of fear,’ wrote one. ‘Too often we try to be polite and ignore instincts. Don’t ignore your instincts!’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another said: ‘Yes! always trust your instincts. Humans are the only animals who override them, often because they doubt themselves, think the warning seems impossible, or choose politeness.’

Reiner’s son Nick, who is known to have a history of drug addiction and volatile mental health, was arrested on Sunday night.

He was booked on a federal murder charge on Monday morning, LA Sheriff’s Office records show, and is being held in jail without bail after police determined he was ‘responsible’ for his parents’ deaths.

A Reiner family spokesman confirmed the deaths, saying: ‘It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner.

‘We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.’

Reiner made many of the best-known movies of the 1980s and 1990s, including Stand By Me and The Princess Bride, legal thriller A Few Good Men and romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally.
