No one does Halloween like Macy Blackwellwho earned herself the title of the internet’s “queen of Halloween,” but her holiday spirit doesn’t end with October.

glimpses into the elaborately decked halls of her home in Texas, which she curates to embody various vibes.
“I love doing themes. I’m so passionate about doing different trees every year,” Blackwell tells PEOPLE ahead of the holiday season. Last year, she decorated 17 full-sized Christmas trees, each of which displayed lights and ornaments fitting into individual styles.

However, the multi-tree display wasn’t just Blackwell’s passion project. She actually set up a 2024 Christmas home tour to raise money for charity, and she says 700 people showed up to see her decorations. Some attendees even flew in to see the pop attraction.
“People bought tickets, people chose to travel and show up here, so I wanted everything just to be extraordinary,” she explains. For that reason, Blackwell was willing to invest a significant amount of funds into the house tour project: “We were probably close to $100,000 last year with Christmas,” she recalls.
However, that doesn’t mean Christmas comes with an annually steep price tag. Blackwell is a big proponent of reusing decorations, and she was glad to tap the 2024 inventory again one year later.
“I’m definitely going to be spending on doing those different themes, giving people new inspo, but thankfully, those bigger items are purchased,” she shares. “I’ll be a little bit budget-friendly this year with it.”
In fact, budgeting is actually at the crux of what Blackwell does. The genesis of her online content was grounded in teaching people how to decorate without breaking the bank, and she makes a significant effort to stay true to that ethos even today.
She makes a big effort to be a discerning consumer, keeping in mind what she truly wants to invest in and what might be of a superfluous purchase. For example, Blackwell notes that she usually steers clear of holiday pieces in unorthodox color schemes, like pink Halloween decorations.

“I just personally love the traditional colors per holiday, and I do feel like that content performs best too,” she tells PEOPLE. “It resonates with people, the nostalgia, and I think those are the best pieces to really invest in. Make sure it’s something that is timeless and can be used year after year.”
Blackwell continues, “When buying decor, I always just consider, ‘Is this a timeless piece?’ or ‘Do I really need this pink Santa?’ Probably not.”
