The English club’s comment came through its official account on the “X” platform, where it published a picture of Salah wearing the Egyptian flag, accompanied by an Arabic phrase bearing an honorary nature: “Oh the pride of Egypt, and Al-Mashareq has its share.”

The Egyptian national team qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Benin, 3-1, in a marathon match that took place on Monday evening at the “Adrar” Stadium in the Moroccan city of Agadir, and extended into two additional halves.

Salah had scored the third goal in the second extra period, laying the foundation for the “Pharaohs” crossing to the next station.

This is Salah’s third goal in the current edition of the tournament, after he previously scored in matches against Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The Egyptian team is awaiting its opponent in the quarter-finals, which will be the winner of the upcoming confrontation between Côte d’Ivoire, the defending champion, and Burkina Faso.
