The quarter-final matches witnessed a great rivalry, as Senegal opened the qualifying campaign for the quarter-finals with a well-deserved victory over Sudan (3-1), and Mali narrowly overcame Tunisia on penalties 3-2, while Morocco secured its place as the first Arab team to qualify with a difficult victory over Tanzania (1-0) in a match held last Sunday, and on the same day, Cameroon overthrew South Africa with a score of 2-1.

Arab football continued its brilliance with the Egyptian national team qualifying after overcoming Benin 3-1 after extra time, while Nigeria showed off its strength with a clean 4-0 win against Mozambique.

Algeria concluded the series of Arab qualifiers after a football epic against the Democratic Republic of Congo, which it won with a fatal goal in extra time (1-0).
