The Arab Cup will be held from December 1 to 18 next, hosted by Qatar, with the participation of 16 teams.

The Syrian Football Association announced in an official statement yesterday, Thursday, that the Spanish coach Jose Lana, the coach of the Syrian national team, chose 23 players according to the system approved for the tournament, adding, “Given the commitment of a number of players to their clubs and because the tournament is being held outside the official FIFA days, both Omar Khribin and Elias Hadiya will not be present in the playoff match, provided that they will join the ranks of the national team in the event of qualifying for the group stage.”

The Syrian national team roster included: Elias Hadiya, Shaher Al-Shaker, Maxim Sarraf, Khaled Al-Hajji, Alain Osei, Abdul Razzaq Muhammad, Abdullah Al-Shami, Ahmed Faqa, Simon Amin, Zakaria Hanan, Khaled Kardoogli, Muhammad Anz, Mahmoud Al-Nayef, Anas Dahan, Hassan Dahan, Muhammad Salkhadi, Mahmoud Al-Aswad, Mahmoud Al-Mawas, Muhammad Al-Hallaq, Elmar Ibrahim, Omar Khribin, and Antonio Yacoub. And Yassin Al-Samiya, while veteran striker Omar Al-Somah was not on the list.

The Syrian national team will play against South Sudan next Tuesday in the Qatari capital, Doha, in the qualifiers for the Arab Cup.

The winner of the match against Syria and South Sudan qualifies to compete in the first group of the tournament, which includes Qatar and Tunisia, in addition to the winner from the match against Palestine and Libya.
