The world number one missed out on a record prize following a straight sets defeat in the WTA final in Saudi Arabia against Elena Rybakina, missing out on the £4 million jackpot.

Sabalenka left for the Maldives for a winter vacation and posted a video on social media in which she appears wearing a bikini and playing with sharks.

Sabalenka reached the bottom two at both the Australian and French Opens, while reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon.

She shared a summary post with her 3.8 million followers on Instagram, where she reviewed her achievements during the year, saying: “And so the 2025 season ended. It was a difficult year, but it was very rewarding.”

“A Grand Slam title for the second year in a row and a few trophies after that. I couldn’t have done it without Team Tiger, the people who stand by me time and time again. I learned a lot of lessons this year through the ups and downs of each tournament and the training in between.”
